OPM Opens Verification Center for Cyber Breach Incidents
By DON CIO - December 29, 2015
More than 25 million current, former, and prospective government employees and contractors were affected by two breaches at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), first reported in June 2015.

Effective December 1, 2015 OPM established a verification center to help individuals who have had their information stolen in the malicious cyber intrusion carried out against the Federal Government. This verification center will help those who believe their data may have been taken but have not received a notification letter from the government. For more information, visit the SECNAV website for timely and accurate information regarding the nature and extent of the personal information compromised, the notification process, and actions that should be taken to minimize the risk to personnel.

Editor's Note: The OPM verification site: https://opmverify.dmdc.osd.mil/ is hosted by the Department of Defense, and is intended as a self-help tool for federal employees, and security clearance applicants impacted by the cyber intrusion involving background investigation records.
