The mini Nintendo Classic has everyone partying like it’s 1985 again. Yes, technology has certainly come a long way in 30 years. Take clean energy for example. We’re currently in the midst of a revolution that has seen costs for wind and solar technologies, electric vehicles (EVs), and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) drop by as much as 94% since 2008.

The first in a series of "Energy Talks" kicked off at the Energy Department on Oct. 11 with 100 ninth-graders from T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia, listening to talks on everything from fuel cell technologies to building efficiency to future careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

Middle school girls and other curious students had the chance to meet with role models in STEM fields at STEM Mentoring Café—a morning of “speed mentoring” hosted by the Intrepid Museum on Saturday, November 14.

STEM Mentoring Cafés - sponsored in part by the Energy Department - engage middle schoolers with science and technology professionals at local science centers and museums nationwide to inspire them to learn about a broad spectrum of energy-related career fields.
