Wildlife

The BLM’s Wildlife Program maintains wildlife habitat to help ensure a natural abundance and diversity of wildlife on the public lands.  We manage the public lands for more than 3,000 species of wildlife dispersed over some of the nation’s most ecologically diverse and essential habitat.  Read more about national and regional wildlife habitat management.

Featured Projects

Wildlife-related activities on BLM-managed lands, such as hunting or bird-watching, contribute hundreds of millions of dollars each year in economic benefits to local communities.  To help protect  these wildlife resources and benefits for the long-term, the BLM supports numerous habitat, conservation, and restoration activities.
