Performance and Accountability Report (PAR)

Fiscal Year 2016 PAR

We are a leader in promoting strong and balanced intellectual property worldwide. In the past year, we have continued to implement the Leahy–Smith America Invents Act (AIA), reduced the pendency of unexamined patent applications, established new programs and initiatives, and proactively engaged with the public.

As we continue to implement our Strategic Plan for 2014–2018, we remain focused on our mission to foster innovation, competitiveness and economic growth, domestically and abroad. Through our highly-skilled, diverse workforce, we deliver high quality and timely examination of patent and trademark applications, guide domestic and international intellectual property policy, and deliver intellectual property information and education worldwide.

We are dedicated to leading positive change in the rapidly evolving intellectual property system.  We are positioned to work transparently with our stakeholder partners and continue to advance intellectual property rights globally.  We are prepared to accelerate support for our nation’s technological and commercial needs and help retain its place as the international model of innovation.
