EASTERN INTERIOR RMP/EIS

Fortymile wild and scenic river winding its way through marches and forest

The BLM recently signed Records of Decision for the four Eastern Interior planning subunits covering 6.7 million acres of public land including the White Mountains National Recreation Area, the Steese National Conservation Area, the Fortymile area, and the Draanjik area. Each area now has its own Record of Decision (ROD) and Approved RMP.  The BLM’s decided to adopt Alternative E from the Proposed RMP/Final Environmental Impact Statement (PRMP/FEIS) with minor adjustments garnered from the range of alternatives released in the Proposed RMP. The BLM prepared the PRMP/FEIS in consultation with cooperating agencies, taking into account public comments received during this planning effort. The Federal Register will publish a Notice of Availability for the Draanjik ROD/RMP, Fortymile ROD/RMP, Steese ROD/RMP, and White Mountains ROD/RMP on January 6, 2017.

These RMPs establish goals and objectives for managing resources, and outline the measures needed to achieve those goals and objectives. The plans identify lands available for certain uses, along with any restrictions on those uses, and identify lands closed to certain uses.
