BLM Wyoming Oil and Gas

The Wyoming State Office manages over 42 million acres of fluid mineral estate in Wyoming and Nebraska.  MOre than 10 million acres of Federal oil and gas leases are administered by the Wyoming State Office, the greatest amount in the nation. In Fiscal Year 2015, these Federal oil and gas leases yielded more than 44 million barrels of oil and 1.2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, generating over $760 million of revenue for the public (about half of which is distributed to the States).  In its oversight of oil and gas operations on public lands, the BLM conducted over 10,000 inspections to ensure operations on Federal leases comply with the BLM's requirements for responsible energy development.
