Becoming an ENERGY STAR partner is easy. Simply fill out an ENERGY STAR Partnership Agreement by following the appropriate link below. There is no cost to partner with ENERGY STAR or use ENERGY STAR promotional materials.

Training Requirements for Builder and Rater Partners:

Builder and Rater partners are required to complete mandatory training. For more information about the training requirements, visit ENERGY STAR for Homes Version 2.5 and 3 Guidelines.

Online Partnership Agreements for:

• Builders
  Companies or individuals that plan to construct one or more ENERGY STAR certified homes for either sale or personal use. This category includes Modular Home Builders, Multifamily Low Rise Builders*, Community Developers, Affordable Housing Builders, and Manufactured Home Plants/Retailers/Installers.
  *Units in all residential buildings with 3 or fewer stories and some buildings with 4 and 5 stories are eligible for certification through the ENERGY STAR Certified Homes Program. Please visit the Eligibility Requirements page for more information.
• Multifamily High Rise Developers
  Companies or individuals that plan to construct ENERGY STAR certified units in multifamily high rise buildings.*  This one-time partnership agreement is intended for the “parent” development company responsible for construction, not the LLC set up specifically for the project. A Builder/Developer must sign an ENERGY STAR Multifamily High Rise Developer Agreement even if they already have an existing partnership agreement as a builder in the ENERGY STAR Certified Homes Program.
  *Units in 4 and 5 story buildings with central heating, cooling, or DHW, or any project with 6 or more stories are eligible for certification through the ENERGY STAR Multifamily High Rise Program. Please visit the Eligibility Requirements page for more information.
• Home Energy Raters
  Professionals who analyze energy-efficient home plans and provide on-site verification for homes to earn the ENERGY STAR.
• Architect/Home Plan Designers
  Individuals or organizations that design residential new construction plans. The plans must be qualified by a HERS Rater to earn the ENERGY STAR designation. The constructed house, if built to plan, will earn an ENERGY STAR label.

• Utilities and Other Sponsoring Programs
  Utilities; national, regional, state, or local government entities; or other organizations (such as home builders associations and green building programs) that promote or intend to promote ENERGY STAR certified homes.

100% Commitment Option

EPA offers special recognition to builders who commit to building 100% of their homes as ENERGY STAR. This commitment will be denoted with a special 100% icon on the ENERGY STAR Partner Locator once a builder has demonstrated progress toward fulfilling that commitment through the number of certified homes reported to EPA. Builders can track the number of homes they have built by visiting their My ENERGY STAR Account (MESA) at www.energystar.gov/MESA.

Indoor airPLUS

EPA’s Indoor airPLUS Program

EPA has launched a program to recognize homes equipped with a comprehensive set of indoor air quality measures. The Indoor airPLUS Program is a great way for builders to differentiate themselves in the market by adding a value proposition of a healthier indoor environment on top of improved comfort and energy savings. Indoor airPLUS is well-aligned with the ENERGY STAR Certified Homes program, and the verification can be performed by a Home Energy Rater in conjunction with the standard ENERGY STAR inspections.
