Objectives The individual will gain experience and knowledge in operations of NAFO as an intergovernmental organization while the NAFO Secretariat will benefit through the presence of an additional professional and his/her capacity and knowledge.
Nature of the Internship Under the supervision of the Executive Secretary, interns will work on project(s) at the Secretariat relevant to their professional interests, scholarship programs and development needs. Interns may be given a wide variety of tasks related to various aspects of:

In 2009 NAFO established a General Council Performance Assessment Working Group (PAWG) to address the establishment of a performance review to identify the strengths and weaknesses in NAFO, as urged by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution 63/112 on Sustainable Fisheries for Regional Fishery Management Organizations (RFMOs). In 2010 the working group met and the terms of the Performance Review were developed. General Council approved terms of reference (ToR) at the September Annual Meeting.
