SAN DIEGO — Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific (SSC Pacific) project manager Emily Nguyen was singled out for a Spotlight Recognition Award by Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Frank Kendall during the secretary’s recent visit.

Nguyen was recognized for her leadership efforts on behalf of the Rapid Response Integration team which supports developing software technology for Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC).

The Spotlight Recognition Award recognizes civilian and military Department of Defense (DoD) professionals for their significant acquisition accomplishments in any of the AT&L priorities and/or Better Buying Power initiatives. The essential aim of the award is to recognize individuals or team members who are doing great work for the DoD, but are not necessarily in the “spotlight” for their day-to-day work.

Specifically, Nguyen was cited for her work as the project manager of a team that releases six different software applications quarterly for MCSC. The team rapidly develops and deploys software solutions to meet technology gaps identified by the Marine Expeditionary Forces. Nguyen also employed the agile software development process to incorporate user feedback quickly into capability development. This approach results in shorter delivery times, less rework and evolved solutions that better match emergent warfighter requirements.

Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific provides the U.S. Navy and military with essential capabilities in the areas of command and control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR). SSC Pacific provides the full spectrum of C4ISR capabilities from basic research and prototype development, to extensive test and evaluation services, through systems engineering and integration, to installation and life-cycle support of fielded systems. SSC Pacific is a recognized leader in the cyber domain and for autonomous unmanned systems, and is providing the technological and engineering support critical to ensuring the Navy’s information warfare superiority.
