Classified milCloud is Available
By DISA News - October 9, 2014
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has configured milCloud for the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET). Department of Defense mission partners can now order milCloud classified and unclassified services through the Cloud Services Marketplace at https://milcloud.mil.

A common access card (CAC) is required to use the Cloud Services Marketplace. milCloud is an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution that leverages a combination of mature commercial and government-developed technology to drive agility into the development, deployment and maintenance of secure DoD applications. milCloud capabilities include:

  • Virtual Data Center (VDC), which is “virtual floor space” giving mission partners direct access to a web-based self-service control panel to manage the configuration of assets (e.g., processor, storage, network).
  • milCloud Orchestrator, which streamlines and automates the management of functions related to the build, test, and migration of environment configurations in a VDC.

milCloud enables mission partners to manage their own VDCs. For those who prefer that DISA manage their VDCs, additional services are available. A customer management executive can provide details.

Classified milCloud provides capabilities at the same rates as milCloud for the Sensitive but Unclassified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET), which achieved initial operational capability in January 2014. Rate information is available at http://disa.mil/Services/~/media/Files/DISA/Services/Computing/FY15Rates.pdf.

SIPRNET milCloud is deployed at the Defense Enterprise Computing Centers (DECCs) in Montgomery, Alabama, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. These DECCs are already providing SIPRNET milCloud for a dozen early adopters from the Intelligence Community and DISA.

From this point, the milCloud NIPRNET and SIPRNET implementations will evolve in parallel.
