Training Opportunities

PRIVACY TRAINING

The Privacy Technical Training sessions will be held at the Department of Commerce’s (DOC) Law Library, room 1894. Government ID’s are required to enter the building located at 1401 Constitution Avenue, Washington, D.C. 20230. The Department is currently undergoing constructions. All attendees must enter the DOC on the corner of 15th & Pennsylvania Avenue, NW . The nearest subway is Metro Center and Federal Triangle.

Presenters are asked to arrive 30 minutes to 1 hour early to enable set-up for the presentation.

Policy Exchange Rules and Laws (PERLs) Training Sessions

Designed for both privacy professionals and privacy novices, this series will be taught by subject matter experts from across the Federal government. Federal employees and contractors are welcome. All training sessions will be held 1:30-3:00 pm EST.

      • March 23rd Privacy Compliance 101
      • April 27th Privacy Threshold Analysis (PTA) and Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA)
      • May 25th System of Record Notice (SORN)

 Federal Privacy Boot Camp

A training series that will provide Federal employees new to working in privacy with the knowledge needed to get started effectively in the privacy program. The program dates are:

      • March 9 – Introduction: Basic overview of privacy, how it work in federal space and where does the federal privacy officer/employee working on privacy fit in.
      • March 16 – Privacy Act, Computer Matching, FOIA

      • March 23 - A-130 Comprehensive privacy program

      • March 30 - Privacy Assessments, Implementing the FIPPs

      • April 6 - Privacy Breaches

      • April 13 - Contracts & Web Policies

      • April 27 - IT Security for Privacy Professionals

      • May 4 - Other Privacy Laws you should know and how they apply to you
