Hello and welcome to the website for the Office of Inspector General for the US Department of State and Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG). I’m Steve Linick. I was appointed Inspector General in September 2013.
The Fall 2016 Semiannual Report to the Congress has now been posted on the OIG website. It covers OIG’s oversight work during the reporting period April 1 through September 30, 2016. This meets OIG’s requirement to issue a semiannual report to the Congress on oversight of the Department of State and the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

On December 8, 2016, the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations’ Subcommittee on State Dept. and USAID Management, Int’l Operations, and Bilateral Int’l Development held a hearing titled, “State Department and USAID Management Challenges and Opportunities for the Next Administration.” IG Steve A. Linick (State/BBG) and IG Ann Calveresi Barr (USAID) testified.

The Spring 2016 Semiannual Report to the Congress has now been posted to the OIG websites. It covers OIG’s oversight work during the reporting period October 1, 2015, through March 31, 2016. Twice annually, OIG is required to issue a semiannual report to the Department of State and the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

The sixth quarterly report on Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, compiled by the Lead Inspector General – Overseas Contingency Operations, has been sent to Congress. This report updates information on significant events involving OFS and the NATO-led efforts to build and strengthen Afghan security forces, during the period from July 1 to September 30, 2016.
The Reports Consolidation Act of 2000 (Pub. L. No. 106–531) requires that inspectors general summarize and assess the most serious management and performance challenges facing Federal agencies and the agencies’ progress in addressing them. Follow the link to this review
The Lead IG collective agency oversight group for overseas contingencies has published their FY2017 Comprehensive Oversight Plan for Overseas Contingency Operations (COP-OCO), as well as their latest quarterly report for Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR).
