NLS Reference Directories

Sources of Custom-Produced Books

2015

Introduction

This directory was compiled by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), Library of Congress, in 2015 from information supplied by organizations, groups, and individuals who produce a wide variety of materials on request for people who are blind, visually impaired, or have physical disabilities that limit their ability to use printed materials. Formats include audio, braille, and large print. Some are produced at no charge by volunteers and others are produced for a fee. The listing is alphabetized by state and then by city within each state. To find a specific type of service consult the index, which is categorized by format (audio, braille, or large print), then by state, and then by product.

Organizations, groups, and individuals that produce reading materials for people who are blind or have a physical disability and are not listed in this directory are invited to submit information for future editions to [email protected]. A listing in this directory is not an indication of endorsement by NLS or the Library of Congress.

About NLS

The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), Library of Congress, administers a free national library service of braille and recorded materials through a network of cooperating libraries across the United States and its territories. Residents of the United States and American citizens living abroad who cannot see to read regular print or who are unable to use print materials may be eligible to borrow recorded and braille books and magazines through this program.

For more information contact the NLS Reference Section at (202) 707-9275 or e-mail [email protected].
