Examination for Registration to Practice in Patent Cases will be Updated December 16, 2016

The United States Patent and Trademark Office will update the content of the registration examination on December 16, 2016. The last date to take the current examination is December 9, 2016.  No exams will be scheduled from December 10, 2016 through December 15, 2016.  The updated examination will cover all material referred to in the Source Materials, including Subject Matter Eligibility Guidance and Training Materials. See Source Materials for the Questions and Answers on the Registration Examination Beginning December 16, 2016. The updated examination will cover all material in the current examination but additionally will cover the material set forth in the Subject Matter Eligibility Guidance and Training Materials. For further information concerning Subject Matter Eligibility, please refer to the Subject Matter Eligibility page of the USPTO website.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office updated the registration examination on March 16, 2016. The current examination covers the material outlined in THE SOURCE MATERIALS FOR THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON THE REGISTRATION EXAMINATION THROUGH DECEMBER 9, 2016.

Notice of Non Compliance with Survey of Registered Practitioners

Pursuant to 37 C.F.R. § 11.11(a)(2), the Office of Enrollment and Discipline (OED) conducted a survey of the active registered practitioners whose registration numbers are between 35,000-39,999. As of October 17, 2014, OED has not received any response from about 443 practitioners. They are given 60 days to pay the delinquency fee set forth in 37 C.F.R. § 1.21(a)(9)(i), and to provide the requested information on a blue Data Sheet, on or before December 16, 2014. Click here for more information

Registration Examination Applicants Review Sessions

Applicants who failed their registration examination will be able to schedule a review session through Prometric at a location selected by the applicant for a fee of $195. Reviews must take place within 65 days after the date of the examination. Applicants will review only those scored questions they answered incorrectly (37 CFR 11.7(e)). Complete instructions for scheduling these review sessions will be provided with the result letters.

The following list contains the names of persons seeking registration to practice before the USPTO.  Final approval for registration is subject to establishing to the satisfaction of the Director of the Office of Enrollment and Discipline that the person seeking registration is of good moral character and repute. 37 CFR 11.7.  Accordingly, any information tending to affect the eligibility of any of the following persons on moral, ethical or other grounds should be furnished to the Director of Enrollment and Discipline.  Click here for more information
