Why Our Work Matters…
Fighting global disease reflects core American values and interests to prevent suffering, save lives, and create a brighter future for families.
High levels of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, a large number of orphans and vulnerable children, unacceptable infant and maternal mortality, and fertility of 5.9 births per woman undermine the health and productivity of Zambian families. USAID's work is aligned closely with Zambia's National Health Strategic Plan and uses proven approaches to combat malaria and tuberculosis; improve maternal and child health; and promote family planning and reproductive health. We also focus on preventing new HIV infections and providing care and treatment for those already infected with the virus.
Disclaimer: Dollars to Results links spending in a fiscal year to results reported for that same year. The data may differ from other USAID and U.S. Government websites because they use different timeframes and reporting parameters for information displayed. Please refer to the FAQs for more details.
