Strengthening Uganda's health systems is critical to keeping up with rising demand. USAID/Uganda trains healthcare workers, supports the large-scale delivery of services and immunizations, and improves the quality of and access to family planning services and maternal and newborn health.

USAID's health program in Uganda aims to:

  • Expand access to quality family planning and reproductive health services;
  • Support comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care programs;
  • Reduce the impact and spread of malaria;
  • Improve access to maternal and child health services;
  • Decrease malnutrition;
  • Decrease cases of tuberculosis; and
  • Improve water supply and sanitation.
