USAID programs work with the government of Mozambique to increase accountability among local government bodies, and improve capacity to deliver quality public services to all Mozambicans.

USAID's Democracy and Governance program in Mozambique aims to:

  • Increase accountability in local governments,
  • Support capacity building for civil society, the media, and the judicial system,
  • Strengthen the fairness of the elections process, and
  • Increase the level of peaceful political competition.
