USAID also supports the goals and principles of the U.S. Government Global Health Initiative (GHI) to improve the health of Malians through sustainable approaches and increased country ownership. USAID activities improve: access, quality, and use of family planning and maternal and child health services; coverage and use of key malaria interventions; access to water and sanitation; and HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support services.

USAID's Health Program in Mali aims to:

  • Reduce the impact and spread of malaria;
  • Support comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care programs and;
  • Improve child health through access to nutrition programs
