USAID’s work with civil society in the Dominican Republic encourages the formation of coalitions, consortia, and networks to more effectively achieve goals; and promotes participation, advocacy, and oversight.
USAID's Democracy and Governance Program in The Dominican Republic aims to:
- Advance and protect individual rights and promote societies in which the state and its citizens are accountable to laws;
- Promote government institutions that are democratic, effective, responsive, sustainable, and accountable to citizens and;
- Ensure that elections are competitive and reflect the will of an informed citizenry
