Aerial Photo Orders

The Aerial Photo Ordering System

To support mapping and charting activities, the National Geodetic Surveys (NGS) Remote Sensing Division (RSD) has been acquiring aerial imagery over coastal regions since 1943. NGS used traditional metric analog aerial camerash until 2009 and, more recently, medium format digital cameras. NGS maintains an active archive. Several types of historical images available in the archive include: color, black and white, color infrared and black and white infrared. Frame sizes are approximately 9 by 9 inches. The most common scales for historical imagery range from 1:30,000 to 1:50,000, with more recent imagery acquired between 5,000 ft and 10,000 ft above ground level. For more information contact us.
