CCI - Community College Internships

ImageWelcome to the Community College Internships (CCI) program, a premier Department of Energy summer internship designed to bring community college students into the technical research setting at the Ames Laboratory and Iowa State University to work with scientists and technicians who are leaders in their respective fields.  Students from across the country spend 10 weeks in the summer in our CCI program.

Participating CCI students receive a stipend of $500 per week.  We provide housing in Iowa State University apartments.  We pay up to $500 for student travel to our site.

We focus on your success!  Our students work alongside scientists and engineers and other mentors in exciting technical environments on cutting-edge projects.   In addition, students have the opportunity to interact with scientists in diverse scientific research areas throughout the Ames Lab via research talks and tours.  Many students use their CCI internship as a springboard for advancing their academic careers as undergraduates, with some going on to participate in our Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) program.
