What are viewers and players (plug-ins)?

Some health.gov webpages have links to files that may require extra software, or plug-ins, for you to view or play the files. Plug-ins are optional software additions that let you do things like watch videos, hear sounds and music, and read certain types of documents.

How do I get the plug-ins I need?

You can download the plug-ins below for free. They will enable you to view or play all of the file formats on health.gov.

• Documents in PDF format require Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  If you have problems with PDF documents, please download the latest version of the Acrobat Reader.
• Documents in Excel format require Excel Viewer.
  If you have problems with Excel documents, please download latest version of the Excel Viewer.
• Videos may require Adobe Flash Player.
  If you have problems with videos, please download the Adobe Flash Player plug-in.
