VFP - Visiting Faculty Program

ImageWelcome to the Visiting Faculty Program (VFP) program, a premier Department of Energy summer internship designed to bring faculty and undergraduates into the laboratory research setting at the Ames Laboratory and Iowa State University to work with scientists who are leaders in their research fields.  Faculty and students from across the country spend 10 weeks in the summer in our VFP program.

Participating faculty receive a stipend of $1,300 per week.  VFP students receive a stipend of $500 per week.  We provide housing in Iowa State University apartments for both faculty and students.  We pay up to $500 for faculty and student travel to our site.

We focus on your success!  Our faculty and students receive guidance from PhD scientist/mentors and work in an exciting research environment alongside scientists, post docs and graduate students.  In addition, faculty and students interact with scientists in diverse research areas throughout the Ames Lab via research talks and tours.  Many of faculty and students use their research experience to generate journal articles for print in national publications.
