Bankruptcies
When companies who owe rents, royalties, or other payments file for bankruptcy protection, ONRR:
Coordinates resolution with the Solicitor's Office, Department of Justice, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and other Federal agencies.
Provides the Proof of Claim to the Solicitor’s Office for filing with the bankruptcy court.
Reviews the bankruptcy debtor's Disclosure Statement and Plan of Reorganization to ensure the best interests of the government are taken into consideration when leases are being sold or assumed.
