Like many urban centers, Washington has job seekers and low-income residents.
One local company, WDC Solar Inc., is giving both groups a boost by training young men and women to install solar panels in low-income communities at no cost to residents.
“The skills that I learned at this job will help me throughout life,” says solar installer Ramo Herbert, who was unemployed before he was trained by WDC Solar Inc.
The company, founded by Mark Davis, a former professional basketball player, is one of the country’s first African American–owned solar panel installation companies.
