Global Violence Prevention: Partners

CDC is part of a network of government and private organizations that help inform international health policies and programs. The following are key partners in violence prevention:

CDC is a core partner and funder of the Violence Prevention Alliance (VPA) - a network of World Health Organization member states, governments, nongovernmental and community-based organizations, private, international, and intergovernmental agencies working to prevent violence. The alliance develops policies, programs, and tools to use the recommendations of the World Report on Violence and Health [PDF 321KB] in communities, regions, and countries around the world.

The core members of the alliance also supported the creation of a searchable online database of evidence-based programs. The database provides access to abstracts from published studies that have measured the effectiveness of activities to prevent violence. Studies in the database measure the effect of interventions directly on violence
