In response to the current opioid epidemic, ACHA has released new guidelines, Opioid Prescribing in College Health [pdf], to assist college health professionals in maximizing safety and reducing potential for abuse when prescribing opioids. Additionally, the guidelines further an understanding of the issues surrounding opioid prescribing and identify possible avenues to assist addicted students with rehabilitation, recovery, and return to the college environment.

Advocacy Alert: Graduate Assistant SHIP Coverage Update

The Departments of Labor, Treasury, and Health and Human Services have extended indefinite enforcement relief to colleges and universities offering subsidized student health insurance plans for graduate assistants. Institutions can continue offering subsidies—without penalty—pending a permanent solution. ACHA continues to collaborate with the higher education community and federal stakeholders to achieve a satisfactory and permanent solution. View the full clarification statement [pdf].
