Welcome to Ponderosa State Park
Beautiful Payette Lake is the centerpiece of Ponderosa State Park, located in the heart of one of Idaho's most popular year-round destinations.  Hike and bike on your own or with a guide, listen to a park naturalist around an evening campfire, let the kids ride to the Visitor Center for ice cream treats, rent a canoe or kayak and meander along the Payette River, snowshoe on a groomed trail or simply sit on the front porch of a park cabin and enjoy the spectacular view. 
 
Whether you enjoy cooking in a Dutch oven at a primitive camp site or an indoor stove in the comfort of  a deluxe, lake view cabin, Ponderosa State Park has every kind of overnight experience imaginable with a variety of standard and serviced campsites, or cabins for small or large groups. Unique Overnight Stays

Lakeview Deluxe Cabins 

  • Bear (sleeps 6); Wolf (6); Fox (6); Moose (5/ADA accessible); Elk (8) are cabins are nestled along the shore of Payette Lake with beautiful views and access to Payette Lake
  • Fully equipped kitchen with full size appliances, cookware, dinnerware, utensils, glasses, cutlery, bake ware, coffee maker, and toaster
  • Most cabins are divided into a bedroom with queen bed, a living room with double hide-a-bed and two (2) twin mattresses in the loft and 1 bathroom
  • All linens are provided
  • Pets are not allowed at the cabins

Cost:  $75-150 with additional reservation and cleaning deposit fees. Note that to reserve deluxe cabins, you need to call the reservation center at 1-888-9-CAMPID or 1-888-922-6743. They cannot be reserved online.

The University of Idaho McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS) is located on the shore of Payette Lake and within the boundaries of Ponderosa State Park.  As Idaho's ONLY publicly operated K12 outdoor school, MOSS offers

a one-of-a-kind learning experience for youth, graduate students, teachers and the community.  MOSS is open to educational groups who would like to hold workshops, seminars and courses in the McCall area.  Contact us today to see if we have space for your group.

The Idaho State Parks Passport: Your State Park Saving Option!

The Idaho State Parks Passport allows Idaho motorists to support Idaho State Parks by agreeing to pay an additional $10 in conjunction with renewing their license plates through the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and County Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Offices.  The Passport sticker allows participating Idahoans unlimited daytime entry to Idaho state parks, IDPR operated recreation areas and boating access sites. The Passport will also provide nightly discounts on camping.  

When you pay the additional $10 for your passport, you'll receive a sticker that will adhere to your motor vehicle.  The sticker will provide unlimited access to all 30 state parks for the entire registration year.  

Out-of-state guests will have a savings option too, with the purchase of an Idaho State Park Motor Vehicle Entry Fee (MVEF) Annual.

Our out-of-state guests have savings options too! You can purchase a $40 Motor Vehicle Entry Fee (MVEF) Annual and receive access to all of Idaho's State Parks and nightly discounts on camping. MVEF Annuals can be purchased at any Idaho State Park and online.
