The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) Division of Intramural Research provides an excellent environment for training the next generation of researchers and is proud to support training at all career levels. The Intramural Training Office (ITO) serves as the focal point for training at NHGRI and offers a variety of information and resources including:
The ITO, in collaboration with the Education and Community Involvement Branch, is dedicated to expanding and developing programs to increase diversity within NHGRI.
An intensive six-day program covering the latest developments in genomics research and providing career development activities for promising graduate students.
The NHGRI Intramural Research Award distinguishes meritorious research accomplishments for a single, notable research achievement, or a larger body of work of exemplary quality and significance. Awards are given in recognition of the full spectrum of research conducted within the NHGRI Intramural Program, including basic, clinical, and behavioral/social science research.
The NHGRI Intramural Health Disparities Postdoctoral Fellowship is intended to provide promising recent doctoral graduates the opportunity to use genetic and genomic approaches to advance the growing area of health disparities research. Health disparities research programs involve not only basic, clinical, or behavioral research related to health disparity populations and the medically underserved, but also strive to create a diverse group of genetic and genomic scientists who engage in such research.
If you are looking for a summer research opportunity at NHGRI, go to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research Web page.
If you are looking for a year-long research opportunity at NHGRI and you are a recent college graduate, please consider the NIH Postbaccalaureate IRTA Program.
