The Kentucky Humanities Council, Inc. is an independent, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington, D.C. The Council is supported by the National Endowment and by private contributions. We are not a state agency, and we receive no state funds, but we are proud partners with Kentucky's cultural, heritage, arts, and tourism agencies.

The spring issue of Kentucky Humanities magazine is coming your way.

Call for applications for Kentucky Chautauqua now available - Mar 17th, 10
Here's your chance to help us tell Kentucky's story by portraying a person from Kentucky's colorful past. Since 1992, our presenters have brought 55 Kentuckians back to life as Chautauqua characters. There are many compelling stories out there -- let us know which one you want to tell. Applications are due May 7, 2010.

Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit coming to Kentucky - Jan 7th, 10
Beginning May, 2011, the Kentucky Humanities Council will be bringing the Smithsonian Institution's Museum on Main Street traveling exhibit, Journey Stories, to Kentucky. Applications are being reviewed now to select six communities to host this exhibit locally.
