The following are links to Spanish-language resources and other information on
Hispanic workers from other federal agencies.
- Agency
for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). The mission of the ATSDR is to serve the public by using the best science, taking responsive public health actions, and providing trusted health information to prevent harmful exposures and disease related to toxic substances.
- Centers
for Disease Control (CDC)
- Electronic
Library of Construction Occupational Safety and Health (eLCOSH).
This electronic library is translated into Spanish and contains searches
for materials related to hazards, types of labor and other job safety
training resources.
- National Ag Safety Database. This database provides
various links and references to agricultural publications and documents in Spanish and other languages.
- National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). NIOSH's
Spanish-language site includes Spanish-language versions of several NIOSH workplace safety and
health documents relevant to industries and occupations in which large
numbers of Spanish-speaking workers are employed. It also describes in
Spanish how workers and employers can contact NIOSH and access basic
services, such as health hazard evaluations.
- Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB). The CSB is an independent federal agency charged with investigating industrial chemical accidents. The CSB Web site includes Spanish-language materials, including investigation digests and videos.
- Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA's Spanish resource web page provides
documents and sites of the EPA on several subjects. There are six sections:
Daily life, Professional Life, Protecting the Children, Emergencies in the
Environment, Other Resources in Spanish, and Laws and Treaties in Spanish.
- Federal Network for Young Worker Safety and Health (FedNet). FedNet is a
federal interagency group dedicated to improving young worker safety and
health.
- Mine
Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). MSHA has a Spanish-language page generated through
an automated translation service.
- National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). A part of the Department of Transportation (DOT), NHTSA works to reduce deaths, injuries and
economic losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes through setting and
enforcing safety performance standards for motor vehicles and motor vehicle
equipment, and through grants to state and local governments to enable them to
conduct effective local highway safety programs.
- Multicultural Outreach Program
- National Institutes of Health (NIH). Spanish-language page.
- National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse was created in February 1998 by the American Road and
Transportation Builders Association and the Federal Highway
Administration to improve safety in highway work zones. The purpose of
the clearinghouse is to provide information and referrals to government
agencies, public and private organizations, and the general public
concerning the safe and effective operation of traffic work zones.
- Spanish-Language Materials. This page includes links to information
about Spanish language training courses, videos, and printed materials that
are related to work zone safety by topic.
- Roadway Safety Awareness Program [PDF* - 479 KB]. This program
provides an overview of common hazards in highway and road construction and
simple prevention measures. It is intended to help your company produce the
worker awareness needed to achieve best practices. It is designed for use by
supervisory personnel with some safety and health experience or by safety and
health personnel to orient new workers as they arrive on the jobsite. The
program contents are available in both English and Spanish.
- Office of Minority Health (OMH). The OMH advises the Secretary of Health and Human Services
and the Office of Public Health and Science (OPHS) on public health issues affecting various
racial/ethnic groups including Hispanics/Latinos.
- The
White House. This page contains White House information and news
translated into Spanish.
