Scout the Fox

Congratulations Mrs. DeVries' Fourth Grade Class from Midvale School, Midvale, Idaho. Scout and his story were selected from 58 submissions received from classrooms all across Idaho and over 1,000 individuals participated in the online public poll. We will celebrate the winning classroom and the entire Midvale School student body on May 19, 2015! Thank you to all who participated! Read Scout's story here.

A Fun Lesson:

We think this would be a rich and rewarding experience for your students to have the opportunity to be a part of our mascot naming process. This project directly aligns with the 4th Grade Idaho ELA Content Standard listed below:

Grade 4 – Writing Standard 3: Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.

a)      Orient the reader by establishing a situation and introducing a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally.

b)      Use dialogue and description to develop experiences and events or show the responses of characters to situations.

c)       Use a variety of transitional words and phrases to manage the sequence of events.

d)      Use concrete words and phrases and sensory details to convey experiences and events precisely.

e)      Provide a conclusion that follows from the narrated experiences or events.
