Law Enforcement

The BLM’s rangers and special agents work to protect public land resources and ensure visitor safety public by enforcing Federal laws and regulations that apply to BLM-managed lands.

The BLM fields a force of approximately 200 law enforcement rangers (uniformed officers) and 70 special agents (criminal investigators) to enforce a wide range of laws and regulations as these personnel work to prevent, detect, and investigate crimes affecting public land resources and visitors.
