Reports, Research, and Literature

NCI has produced and collaborated on several reports that address the special challenges facing young people with cancer. Information about cancer incidence, mortality, and survival in adolescents and young adults, together with selected research advances and activities, is available in the Snapshot of Adolescent and Young Adult Cancers. A chapter in NCI’s SEER Cancer Statistics Review also focuses on cancers unique to adolescents and young adults and the variations in disease patterns within this age group. A monograph details information about cancer incidence and outcomes in adolescents and young adults. Additional young adult cancer-related research and reports include:

• Adolescent and Young Adult Health Outcomes and Patient Experience (AYA HOPE) Study
  This project will learn how best to obtain consent, collect medical records, and survey recently diagnosed AYA cancer patients in community settings in order to study treatment patterns and outcomes for these patients.

  This comprehensive report from the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Progress Review Group (PRG) is a collaborative effort between NCI and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It outlines recommendations for improving the outcomes for adolescents and young adults with cancer.
