Social
Security Administration's (SSA) Amendments to the Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program; Final Rule
SSA's final regulations for the Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program (Ticket to Work
program), authorized by the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999. The final
regulations were published
in the Federal Register on May 20, 2008 and will go in to effect on July 21, 2008. These new regulations
are intended to significantly improve the Ticket Program and provide greater opportunities for
service providers, Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Agencies, and employers to become Employment Networks,
and to expand the choices available to SSA beneficiaries who want to enter or re-enter the workforce.

Section 508 of
the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires all Federal agencies to make their electronic and
information technology is accessible to employees and members of the public with disabilities to the extent
it does not pose an "undue burden."
Workforce Investment Act Statute and Regulations
The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 WIA reformed Federal job training programs and created a new, comprehensive and customer-focused workforce investment system. Title IV of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA), includes the amendments to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and ties the provisions of the Rehabilitation Act more closely to the integrated workforce system as mandated by the WIA.

Workforce Investment Act of 1998, Section 188 Implementation of the Nondiscrimination and Equal Opportunity Provisions
Final regulations implementing the nondiscrimination and equal opportunity provisions of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA), which are contained in section 188 of WIA. Section 188
prohibits discrimination on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, national origin,
age, disability, political affiliation or belief, and for beneficiaries only, citizenship
or participation in a WIA Title I-financially assisted program or activity.
