Today, the BLM's Pocatello Field Office and U.S. Forest Service Caribou-Targhee National Forest issued decisions for the Rasmussen Valley Mine Project to approve an open pit phosphate mine in Caribou County, Idaho.

Ice Jams Force Temporary Closure of Two BLM Recreation Sites

Erratic winter behavior has resulted in several major ice jams along the Salmon and Lemhi Rivers. As of Wednesday, Jan. 11, portions of Shoup Bridge Recreation Site and Morgan Bar Campground are underwater. The Salmon Field Office (SFO) has placed barricades and closed gates to prevent potential accidents at those flooded sites.
