Title

BLM High Desert District continues Utah Juniper Treatment on Lousy George

Body

The Bureau of Land Management High Desert District plans to burn slash piles in the Lousy George Juniper project located 10 miles to the south of the Currant Creek Ranch, and approximately
65 miles to the south/southwest of Rock Springs, WY.

The prescribed fire (pile burn) will take place throughout the fall, winter, and spring months as it is contingent upon fuel moisture, snow ground cover, and weather meeting optimal burn conditions.

The prescribed fire will improve wildlife habitat, increase livestock forage and distribution, enhance rangeland vegetation health, reduce hazardous fuels, open areas to new grasses and forbs, and
dispose of slash. Burning piles will also reduce existing fuel loads and improve fuel breaks to reduce the potential for catastrophic wildfires. The pile burn is targeting 900 acres of constructed hand piles.

Outdoor enthusiasts are advised to avoid this area during prescribed fire operations.
