The Form No. 1 is a comprehensive financial and operating report submitted annually for electric rate regulation, market oversight analysis, and financial audits by Major electric utilities, licensees and others. As detailed in 18 CFR § 101(Uniform System of Accounts Prescribed for Public Utilities and Licensees Subject to the Provision of the Federal Power Act, General Instructions), Major is generally defined as having in each of the three previous calendar years, sales or transmission services that exceed one of the following: (1) one million megawatt hours of total annual sales; (2) 100 megawatt hours of annual sales for resale; (3) 500 megawatt hours of annual power exchanges delivered; or (4) 500 megawatt hours of annual wheeling for others (deliveries plus losses). New entities that expect to be in the Major category should begin filing based on projected data.
The FERC Form No. 1-F (Form No.1-F) is a financial and operating report submitted annually for electric rate regulation, market oversight analysis, and financial audits by Nonmajor electric utilities and licensees. As detailed in 18 CFR § 101(Uniform System of Accounts Prescribed for Public Utilities and Licensees Subject to the Provision of the Federal Power Act, General Instructions), Nonmajor is defined as having total annual sales of 10,000 megawatt-hours or more in the previous calendar year and not classified as Major. New entities that expect to be in the Nonmajor category should begin filing based on projected data.
The Form No. 423 is a compilation of data for cost and quality of fuels delivered to electric power plants to be used for determination of electric Rates.
Note: Order No. 709 (issued March 11, 2008) eliminated this filing requirement. As of January 1, 2008 EIA began collecting this data on its form EIA-923. On March 28, 2008 FERC announced that it has terminated collection of the Form 423 ending with the December 2007 report, which was due February 15, 2008. FERC no longer maintains this data. The FERC-520 is an application requesting FERC authorization of individuals proposing to simultaneously hold board positions of regulated electric utilities and corporate boards of related or similar businesses.
The information filed with the Commission through Form 523 is used to make a determination to grant or deny authorization to issue securities or to assume a liability
In February 1995, the Commission instituted the FERC Form No. 556 filing requirement, which should be included with any application for Commission certification/recertification or notice of self-certification/self-recertification.
On June 1, 2010, the Commission instituted the electronic fillable Form No. 556 at the link to the right side of this text. Electronic filing of this form is mandatory.
The Form 561 is an annual report of information detailing electric public utility officer and board of director positions that officers and directors held within and outside their affiliated public utility at any point during the preceding year. The reports on last year's information are filed on April 30th.
NOTE: IN 2015 ONLY, two versions of the FERC Form 561 will be accepted by FERC. FERC Form 561 with the expiration date of 8/31/2014 and the recently posted FERC Form 561 with the expiration date of 9/30/2017 will both be accepted. Next year all respondents of the FERC Form 561 will need to use the newest form with the expiration date of 9/30/2017.

FERC-580 - Interrogatory on Fuel and Energy Purchase Practices
This biennial data collection gathers information (under Docket IN79-6) on utility fuel supply contracts and other costs recovered through wholesale automatic adjustment clauses.

Electric transmitting utilities operating balancing authority areas and planning areas (with annual peak demand over 200MW) are required to electronically file Form 714, reporting among other things, balancing authority area generation, actual and scheduled inter-balancing authority area power transfers, and net energy for load, summer-winter generation peaks and system lambda.
FERC-730 is used by the Commission to determine the effectiveness of its rules and to provide it with an accurate assessment of the state of transmission investment by public utilities. This annual report includes projections, information that details the level and status of transmission investment, and the reason for delay, if any. Public utilities that have been granted incentive based rate treatment for specific transmission projects under provisions of 18 CFR 35.35 must file FERC-730. The report must conform to the format prescribed in Order No. 679, Appendix A. Filers are strongly encouraged to submit the FERC-730 electronically via eFiling.
Filing Date: Initial filing is on April 18th of the year following issuance of the incentive-based rate, and subsequent filings are due each April 18th thereafter

The Form No. 2 is a compilation of financial and operational information from major interstate natural gas pipelines subject to the jurisdiction of the FERC. The form contains data for a calendar year. Among other things, the form contains a Comparative Balance Sheet, Statement of Income, Statement of Retained Earnings, Statement of Cash Flows, and Notes to Financial Statements.
Major is defined as having combined gas transported or stored for a fee that exceeds 50 million dekatherms.
The Form No. 3-Q is a comprehensive quarterly financial and operating report which supplements Annual Report Forms 2 and 2-A and is submitted for each Major and Non Major Natural Gas Company.
Form No. 11 was filed quarterly by interstate natural gas pipeline companies meeting the criteria set forth in the form. For each month of the quarter the respondent reported quantities shipped or stored and revenues received under each rate schedule.
Note: Form 11 was discontinued 2/28/2009 (per Orders 710 and 710-A, in Docket No. RM07-9), with similar data incorporated into Forms 2 and 3Q.
These reports are assigned a CP docket number. A report detailing various activities undertaken under blanket certificate authority. A complete list of the types of activities which must be reported are listed at the referenced regulation.
The pipeline must file an annual report of each activity involving the construction of, or the abandonment with removal of, facilities authorized pursuant to Section 284.3(c) and Subpart B or C of Part 284. These reports are assigned a CP docket number.
In the event of a bypass
of a local distribution company (LDC), the pipeline must
file a statement with FERC that the pipeline has notified
the LDC and the LDC s regulatory agency in writing of
the bypass prior to commencement of service.
The pipelines must file
a summary of storage injection and withdrawal activities
over six month injection or withdrawal seasons for storage
activity provided under the authority of sections 284.102
or 284.223.
OMB #: On 03/29/2012, OMB approved the elimination of the FERC-537 semi-annual storage report, as ordered by FERC in Docket No. RM11-4 (FERC Order 757, issued 01/19/2012). [The semi-annual storage report was formerly included in OMB Control No.1902-0060.]
On the first business day of each calendar quarter interstate pipelines engaged in transactions under a blanket certificate must file with the Commission a list of all firm transportation and storage customers under contract as of the first day of the calendar quarter.
A report by interstate pipelines operating under a blanket certificate showing the pipeline's peak day capacity and the estimated storage capacity and maximum daily delivery capability of its storage facilities. The report must also show the respective assignments of that capacity to the various firm services provided by the pipeline.
Form No. 549D collects quarterly contractual information by shipper from Section 311 and Hinshaw Pipeline companies on a quarterly basis.
Each intrastate pipeline company providing interstate services pursuant to section 311 of the NGPA or Hinshaw pipeline company that provides interstate services pursuant to a blanket certificate issued under § 284.224 of the Commission’s regulations must file a quarterly report with the Commission and the appropriate state regulatory agency.

Form No. 552 collects transactional information from natural gas market participants.
Market participants must fill out the form annually if: (1) their reportable natural gas sales were greater than 2.2 million MMBtu in the reporting year; or (2) their reportable natural gas purchases were greater than 2.2 million MMBtu in the reporting year.
Submit FERC Form No. 552 electronically via eFiling. Paper and email filings are not accepted.
A report by an interstate natural gas pipeline of serious interruptions of service to any wholesale customer involving facilities operated under certificate authorization from FERC. A natural gas pipeline company making a report of a service interruption pursuant to section 260.9 of the Commission's regulations may fax its report to 202-208-2853.
This annual report lists for the previous year all projects representing the replacement of existing facilities that have or will soon become physically deteriorated or obsolete.
This form provides the electronic formats for maintaining information on discounted transportation transactions and capacity allocation to support monitoring of activities of interstate pipeline marketing affiliates.
The Form No. 80 is used to gather information necessary for the Commission and other agencies to know what recreational facilities are located at licensed projects, whether public recreational needs are being accommodated by the facilities, and where additional efforts could be made to meet future needs.
The Form No. 587 is used to identify those project boundary maps associated with federal lands. There are two versions of the form to account for the two different ways land is surveyed in the United States, the Public Land States and the Non-Public Land States. Completed forms must be included in applications for preliminary permits with a copy sent to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) state office where the project is located. Copies are also sent to BLM after license issuance.
The Commission is required to determine the reasonableness of costs incurred by other Federal agencies (OFAs) related to the participation of those agencies in the Commission's proceedings under Federal Power Act (FPA) Part 12 when those agencies seek to include such costs in the administrative annual charges licensees must pay to reimburse the United States for the cost of administering Part 1.
Form No. 6 - Annual Report of Oil Pipeline Companies

The Form No. 6 is designed to collect financial and operational information from oil pipeline companies subject to the jurisdiction of the Commission. Order 620 [eLibrary] requires all jurisdictional oil pipeline companies to use the Commission's software to electronically file Form 6 commencing with reporting year 2000.
Each oil pipeline carrier whose annual jurisdictional operating revenues exceed $500,000 must file FERC Form 6 (18 C.F.R. § 357.2)
Oil pipeline carriers exempt from filing FERC Form 6 whose annual jurisdictional operating revenues have been more than $350,000 but less than $500,000 must prepare and file page 301, "Operating Revenue Accounts (Account 600), and page 700, "Annual cost of Service Based Analysis Schedule," of FERC Form 6. When submitting pages 301 and 700, each exempt oil pipeline carrier must include page 1 of the FERC Form 6, the Identification and Attestation schedules (18 C.F.R. § 357.2 (a)(2)).
Oil pipeline carriers exempt from filing FERC Form 6 and whose annual jurisdictional operating revenues were $350,000 or less for each of the three previous calendar years must prepare and file page 700, "Annual Cost of Service Based Analysis Schedule," of FERC Form 6. When submitting page 700, each exempt oil pipeline carrier must include page 1 of FERC Form 6, the Identification and Attestation schedule (18 C.F.R. § 357.2 (a)(3)).
The Form No. 6-Q is to collect quarterly financial and operational information from oil pipeline companies subject to the jurisdiction of the Commission. Order 646 requires all jurisdictional oil pipeline companies to use the Commission's software to electronically file Form 6-Q commencing with reporting year 2004.
Oil pipeline carriers submitting FERC Form 6 (annual jurisdictional operating revenues exceed $500,000) must submit FERC Form 6-Q (18 C.F.R. § 357.4(a)).
During an investigation of an oil pipeline company's book depreciation rates, FERC requests service life data as a part of its data request. This service life data, which may be initial data or an update to previously existing data, is collected on FERC Form No. 73. The information collected on FERC Form No. 73 is used as an input to assist the Commission in the selection of appropriate oil pipeline company service lives and book depreciation rates.

Form No. 60 is an annual regulatory support requirement under 18 CFR 366.23 for centralized service companies. The report is designed to collect financial information from centralized service companies subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The report is considered to be a non-confidential public use form.
FERC-61 is a filing requirement for service companies in holding company systems (including special purpose companies) that are currently exempt or granted a waiver of Commission's regulations and therefore would not have to file FERC Form 60. Instead, service companies will be required to file on an annual basis a narrative description of the service company's functions during the prior calendar year. In complying with this section, a holding company may make a single filing on behalf of all of its service company subsidiaries. The report is considered to be a non-confidential public use filing.
