What's Happening in the Next Several Weeks:
Integrative Genomics Building: The DOE CD-3 ESAAB review conducted in early October 2016 was successful. The Notice-to-Proceed was issued to the Subcontractor in late October 2016. Mobilization and construction activities are currently underway, including the demolition and removal of existing pavement to make way for the upcoming installation of the building foundation.
NERSC-9: Procurement process for computer system and design phase for facility upgrades are underway. The project is currently in CD-1/3A, with CD-2/3B expected in FY18.
Old Town Demolition, Phase I: Demolition of the superstructures of Buildings 5, 16, and 16A is complete, as is the recycling and disposal of the resulting debris. The main retaining wall on the east side of Building 5 (B5) has been reinforced, and the foundations, slabs, and utilities within the building have been removed. The soldier pile retaining wall north of B5 is nearing completion. The groundwater treatment system has been temporarily relocated to Road R to accommodate the installation of the soldier pile wall. The removal of the slab, utilities, and contaminated soil of the former B5 and the waste processing yard is substantially complete. B5 and the B5 Yard areas have been approved for backfill; the associated clean structural fill has been rough graded and compacted. All of the waste packages (LLW) at Bayview have been shipped and disposed; the site has been released for the Integrative Genomics Building construction. The waste water treatment system has been relocated from Bayview to Road R. The PCB cleanup application package for Buildings 52 and 52A (B52/52A), and its amendment for Buildings 16 and 16A (B16/16A), were approved by the EPA. Upcoming field work includes placing base rock and paving of B5 and the B5 Yard. B52/52A utility, slab and contaminated soils removal is commencing. The B16/16A and associated electrical pad excavation planning is underway.
Old Town Demolition, Phase II: Scope planning is underway.
ALS HVAC Controls: Design procurement for the HVAC controls systems for Buildings 6 and 80 is underway, as is the Building 37 HVAC controls installation. Future activities include Building 34 VFD replacements and networking installation.
