On a seasonally adjusted basis, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 0.3 percent

Compensation costs increased 0.6 percent for civilian workers, seasonally adjusted,
from June 2016 to September 2016. Over the year, compensation rose 2.3 percent,
with wages and salaries up 2.4 percent and benefits up 2.3 percent.

The Producer Price Index for final demand increased 0.3 percent in December. Final demand
prices advanced 0.4 percent in November and were unchanged in October. In December, the
final demand goods index advanced 0.7 percent and prices for final demand services inched up
0.1 percent.

Productivity increased 3.1 percent in the nonfarm business sector in the
third quarter of 2016; unit labor costs increased 0.7 percent (seasonally
adjusted annual rates). In manufacturing, productivity increased 0.4 percent

Prices for U.S. imports rose 0.4 percent in December, after a 0.2-percent decline the
previous month. The advance in December was primarily driven by higher fuel prices.
