The Coeur d' Alene's Old Mission State Park spotlights the oldest building in Idaho. The Mission of the Sacred Heart was constructedbetween 1850 and 1853 by Catholic missionaries and members of the Coeur d' Alene Tribe. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Sacred Heart Mission and the Coeur d'Alene's Old Mission State Park provide an educational experience not found anywhere else, giving visitors an opportunity to examine the dynamics and complexities between Jesuit missionaries and the tribal people among whom they settled in a beautiful park setting. The park features the Sacred Heart Mission church, a restored Parish House and a historic cemetery.
The visitor center includes a gift shop and a new award-winning exhibition "Sacred Encounters: Father De Smet & the Indians of the Rocky Mountain West" to help tell the fascinating story of the Mission, the Tribe and the missionaries.Located near the Trail of the Coeur d' Alenes, one of the most spectacular biking trails in the Western United States, the Mission is an excellent place to stop for the day while on the trail, a wonderful place to view Idaho history and architecture and one of the most beautiful locations for a wedding and reception.

A world-class exhibit, Sacred Encounters: Father De Smet & the Indians of the Rocky Mountain West is now open at Coeur d' Alene's Old Mission State Park.
The 5,000 square foot, $3.26 million exhibit includes artifacts from some of the most important museums in the world including the Smithsonian and Museum of Natural History.
The exhibit tells the story of how Jesuit missionaries came to the interior Northwest at the invitation of the Coeur d' Alene and Salish tribes and the profound effects this sacred encounter had on both cultures.
Weddings at Old Mission
Coeur d' Alene's Old Mission State Park and the Sacred Heart Mission are the perfect setting for a magical, romantic wedding experience. The Mission and grounds provide a beautiful and tranquil location for an intimate wedding or a wedding with a guest list of up to 500 people.
The Mission is available for weddings, regardless of religious backgrounds. Wedding ceremonies may be held within the Mission, which holds up to 100 guests, or in the West Courtyard where the charm of the landscape is accented by scenic vistas. Both areas provide a unique historic and sacred backdrop for your special day and are available at affordable prices.

The Idaho State Parks Passport: Your State Park Saving Option!
The Idaho State Parks Passport allows Idaho motorists to support Idaho State Parks by agreeing to pay an additional $10 in conjunction with renewing their license plates through the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and County Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Offices. The Passport sticker allows participating Idahoans unlimited daytime entry to Idaho state parks, IDPR operated recreation areas and boating access sites. The Passport will also provide nightly discounts on camping.
When you pay the additional $10 for your passport, you'll receive a sticker that will adhere to your motor vehicle. The sticker will provide unlimited access to all 30 state parks for the entire registration year.
Out-of-state guests will have a savings option too, with the purchase of an Idaho State Park Motor Vehicle Entry Fee (MVEF) Annual.

Our out-of-state guests have savings options too! You can purchase a $40 Motor Vehicle Entry Fee (MVEF) Annual and receive access to all of Idaho's State Parks and nightly discounts on camping. MVEF Annuals can be purchased at any Idaho State Park and online.
