This report describes the findings and recommendations of the Task Force which was sponsored by BJS and SEARCH. The Task Force, which included members of the judiciary, court administrators, and Federal and state criminal justice representatives, responded to court concern about the increasing demands for data to support criminal justice legislative strategies. The report recommends greater involvement of the courts in the development of data systems and that greater consideration be given to the demands which implementing new legislative strategies impose on the judiciary system. The Task Force is part of the series of Task Forces addressing policy related issues which are sponsored jointly by BJS and SEARCH under the BJS NCHIP program.
