Long-Term Programs
Bird
Banding Laboratory (BBL)– Banding and recovery data are essential
elements for estimating and monitoring waterfowl populations.
Breeding
Bird Survey (BBS) – Monitoring the status of breeding bird populations
in the United States and Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Wildlife Service:
data, analyses, analytical software, information for participants
North
American Amphibian Monitoring Program (NAAMP) – monitoring populations
of vocal frogs and toads in the eastern United States
Northeast
Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative (ARMI) – Patuxent participates
in this intensive monitoring and associated research studies on Department of
the Interior lands in the northeastern United States.
Whooping
Cranes: The Patuxent Wildlife Research Center has been a leader in Whooping
Crane research and recovery and is an active partner in the Whooping Crane Eastern
Partnership.
