The Annual Reports and Information group within the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) produces several reports each year that draw from over 25 surveys by NCES and other government agencies. These wide-ranging data sources allow our reports to provide a comprehensive view of key issues facing the U.S. education system.
This Congressionally mandated annual report summarizes developments and trends in education using the latest available data. The report includes indicators divided into four chapters: (1) population characteristics; (2) participation in education; (3) the contexts of elementary and secondary education; and (4) the contexts of postsecondary education.
A compilation of statistical information covering the broad field of American education from prekindergarten through graduate school. The Digest includes a selection of data from many sources, both government and private, and draws especially on the results of surveys and activities carried out by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
This report examines the educational progress and challenges students face by race/ethnicity. The indicators summarize trends on topics such as demographics; preprimary, elementary, and secondary participation; student achievement; student behaviors and persistence in education; postsecondary education; and outcomes of education.
This report provides projections for key education statistics, including enrollment, graduates, teachers, and expenditures in elementary and secondary public and private schools, as well as enrollment and degrees conferred at postsecondary degree-granting institutions.
This annual report examines crime occurring in schools and colleges. This report covers topics such as bullying and cyber-bullying, school conditions, fights, weapons, availability and student use of drugs and alcohol, student perceptions of personal safety at school, and criminal incidents at postsecondary institutions.
This report presents estimates of recent high school dropout and completion rates as well as their trends over the last four decades. Additionally, it examines the characteristics of high school dropouts and completers.
