 Accounting Policy

The purpose of the Office of Accounting Policy is to oversee and facilitate the production of the Financial Report of the U.S. Government, including preparation of Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and the Citizen’s Guide.  Additionally, the office prompts improvements in government wide accounting by providing guidance to the Financial Management Service, the preparers of the Financial Report, in conjunction with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the United States Chief Financial Officer Council. This Office promotes and facilitates efforts to develop and include more useful, reliable and timely financial information in the Financial Report.  The Financial Report can be found on-line at http://www.fms.treas.gov/fr/index.html.
