FY2012 NOFA and Funding Information

Implementation Grants NOFA

The FY 2012 Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grants Notice of Funds Availability (NOFA) was issued on January 10, 2012 and announced approximately $110 million available for awards. Eligible applicants are public housing authorities (PHAs), local governments, nonprofits, tribal entities and for-profit developers that apply jointly with a public entity.  Applications must present a plan to revitalize a severely distressed public and/or HUD-assisted multifamily housing project located in a distressed neighborhood into a viable, mixed-income community.  Applications were due April 10, 2012.

Planning Grants NOFA

The FY2012 Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grants Notice of Funds Availability (NOFA) was issued on February 29, 2012 and announced approximately $5 million available for awards. Eligible applicants are public housing authorities (PHAs), local governments, nonprofits, tribal entities and for-profit developers that apply jointly with a public entity.  Applications must propose to plan for the revitalization of a severely distressed public and/or HUD-assisted multifamily housing project located in a distressed neighborhood into a viable, mixed-income community.  Applications were due May 1, 2012.

Mapping Tool

For the purposes of establishing neighborhood eligibility and to assign points for certain rating factors, HUD has created a mapping tool that will overlay the locally defined neighborhood boundaries with data associated with that area and estimate the rates of certain indicators in that neighborhood using a proportional allocation methodology.
