Waste Minimization

GSA is committed to sustainable management of solid waste generated in all of its buildings every day and through periodic renovation and construction projects.  GSA's solid waste management program promotes the recycling and reuse of solid waste to achieve a waste diversion target of 50 percent by the end of FY2015.  To promote waste minimization and pollution prevention, GSA has also implemented a Green Purchasing Plan to require the purchase of products and materials that are bio-based, non-ozone depleting, energy efficient, water efficient, contain recycled content, and are non-toxic or less toxic alternatives.
