EAC Recommendations on Smart Grid Research and Development Needs

The Smart Grid is envisioned to provide the enhancements needed to improve the security, reliability, and availability of electricity, improve economic productivity and quality of life, reduce environmental impacts, improve system efficiency and asset utilization,  and facilitate the integration of renewable resources onto the electric grid.

The attached recommendations, approved on the second day of the March 26-27, 2015 meeting of the Electricity Advisory Committee and delivered to the Department of Energy, provide an overview of the Smart Grid’s research and development needs and discusses areas where the Department of Energy can offer the most critical support.
