Unemployment
How do I file for unemployment?

You can file online at http://www.tn.gov/workforce/topic/unemployment-online-applicationication. You will need the information below to file online:

  • A Valid Email Address
  • Employer name and address
  • Social Security Number
  • Telephone number
  • Name of county where you reside
  • Your last day worked and the reason for separation from your last employer (e.g., quit, fired, lack of work, laid-off or job eliminated, etc.)
  • DD 214, Member -4 (if you served in the military in the past 18 months)
  • Your bank routing number and account number if you prefer to receive benefit payments by direct deposit. If you do not enter direct deposit information and you are determined to be eligible to receive UI benefits, you will automatically receive your benefits on the Tennessee Automated Payment Visa Card provided by Chase Bank.

How long will it take for my unemployment request to be approved or denied?

Many applications for unemployment are taking 8-10 weeks to process. You can check the status of your claim by logging in with your PIN to https://ui.tn.gov/ or calling 877-813-0950. If you are approved, your status will say "released," and your first deposit will be made either to your debit card or bank account within 72 hours. You will initially receive a large amount covering the weeks of processing before starting your regular weekly benefit. If your claim is denied, you will receive a notice by mail from the TN Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Driver License
How do I change my address on my driver license?

You can change your address online, but you will NOT receive a new license or sticker for the back of your license,. You will also not receive a new handgun carry permit. If you would like the new address printed on your license, go to a Driver Service Center. See fees for a duplicate license.
