Appalachia Funders Network Holds 2012 Annual Meeting in Berea, Kentucky

The third annual meeting of the Appalachia Funders Network—a group of public and private grant makers that works to promote an entrepreneurial-based Appalachian economy—was held March 28–29, 2012, in Berea, Kentucky. Themed "Accelerating the Economic Transition of Central Appalachia," the event included discussions on entrepreneurial supports, community capacity, development of youth leadership, and promising sectors such as local food systems. ARC Federal Co-Chair Earl F. Gohl provided opening remarks at the meeting; Erik Pages, president of Virginia-based EntreWorks Consulting, an economic development consulting and policy development firm, gave the keynote address.
